Provides a comprehensive experience for first-year students who want to learn about NC State’s many academic programs, choose the right major, and graduate on time.
Helps NC State’s undergraduate students, graduate students, and alums learn of and apply for nationally competitive and prestigious awards. These awards fund a wide range of opportunities, and many are connected to undergraduate and graduate degree programs or internships, overseas opportunities, and independent projects.
Offers general education courses featuring active learning opportunities exclusively for first-year students. Participants show measurable academic improvement after taking a single FYI course.
Supports and promotes discovery-, inquiry-, scholarship- and creativity-based opportunities through mentored experiences with NC State faculty and other national and international scholars and professionals.

For students who want to do more than take forty courses and earn a degree. It’s an opportunity for students to take ownership over their educational process and discover their place in the world.
