Designed for Discovery
University College has historically served as an incubator for new, interdisciplinary academic programs. Today, those programs are finding permanent homes in our college, and so are their students.
Our B.S. in music technology is a prime example: with coursework in music, engineering, entrepreneurship and design, it prepares students to develop innovative technology for the music industry. Our minors and certificate programs complement every major on campus and allow you to continue pursuing your personal passions at a high level.
If you know NC State is the right university for you but you’re not sure which major best aligns with your goals, the Exploratory Studies Program can get you started on your path. This cohort-based program immerses first-year students in self-discovery, introduces you to options you may not have considered and prepares you to succeed, no matter which major you choose.

Support for Your Journey
No two NC State experiences are exactly alike. We know sometimes you need help navigating a change of direction or one of life’s many twists and turns. Students in any college can access University Advising or the Inter-College Transfer Program for assistance with a change of major that also requires a change of college.
