The music industry is constantly evolving, but new technologies often fall short of meeting the needs of musicians and music lovers alike. Our interdisciplinary B.S. in music technology, offered by the Department of Performing Arts and Technology, is designed to address this challenge head-on.
We’re preparing our graduates to create meaningful innovations in this field by combining a music core curriculum with coursework in electrical engineering, computer engineering, arts entrepreneurship and design.

This is more than a placeholder — it’s a highly intentional cohort-based program that will greatly enhance what you end up doing during your time at NC State. It will help you learn about yourself, introduce you to majors you might have overlooked and give you a supportive community from day one.

Challenge Yourself With Honors
The University Honors Program was designed for highly motivated students looking to take their NC State education to the next level. Through a series of graduate-style courses, lecture series, arts and culture events, travel experiences and more, you’ll gain a depth and breadth of knowledge that crosses disciplines and equips you to solve problems.
You’ll work with a dedicated advisor to select opportunities that will help you reach your academic goals and satisfy your interests. You’ll also join a vibrant living and learning community with your peers in the Honors Village, surrounded by fellow students who want to be well-rounded, involved citizens.
The application to the University Honors Program involves additional essay questions that are incorporated into your NC State application.
